How to convert square feet to square meters
Multiply the square feet by 0.09290304. That number is exact, not rounded: a foot is defined as 0.3048 meters, and a square foot is 0.3048 × 0.3048 = 0.09290304 square meters. So 1,000 square feet is 92.90 square meters, and a 2,000 square foot house is 185.81.
The other common way is to divide by 10.764, the number of square feet in a square meter. It gives the same answer to two decimals for a room and drifts a little on a house. Dividing by 10.76, which at least one large calculator site still does, is 0.04% off — a few square feet on a large building, and the kind of error nobody looks for because the number looks right. This page multiplies by the exact factor and rounds only what it prints.
Type the area the way it is written: 2,400 and 2400
are the same. A comma counts as a thousands separator only before a group of
three digits; 12,5 could be twelve and a half where a comma is the
decimal mark, so the box says so and keeps the last area it read rather than
guess. A decimal point is fine: 1,250.5.
